After graduating from Boston University School of Law, he worked as a Big Law trial associate, taking the lead in developing legal defenses, managing case discovery, deposing witnesses, and arguing dispositive motions. He also represented clients in civil trial proceedings, including preliminary injunctions and jury and bench trials.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>From there, John served as an assistant federal public defender in the Southern District of Texas. There, he handled all aspects of criminal representation \u2014 from motion practice to jury trials \u2014 for hundreds of indigent clients. This experience has continued to serve him well at Rusty Hardin &amp; Associates, where he continues to handle criminal cases. John\u2019s criminal defense experience also allows him to anticipate and analyze the criminal implications in civil cases, which also make up a significant portion of his practice.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<span><a onclick=\"read_toggle(227440032, 'Read More', 'Read Less'); return false;\" class=\"read-link\" id=\"readlink227440032\" style=\"readlink\" href=\"#\">Read More<\/a><\/span>\n<div class=\"read_div\" id=\"read227440032\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>John\u00a0also\u00a0has\u00a0appellate experience at both the state and federal levels, arguing cases before the\u00a0U.S. Fifth\u00a0Circuit and Texas&#8217; intermediate courts of appeals in Houston and Austin, as well as filing petitions in the Texas Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court. John clerked for current Texas Supreme Court Justice Brett Busby when Justice Busby was on the\u00a014th\u00a0Court of Appeals.\u00a0A former resident of\u00a0New Hampshire, he also\u00a0clerked for\u00a0that state&#8217;s Supreme Court\u00a0Chief Justice Linda S. Dalianis\u00a0before making the move to Texas.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>John believes\u00a0effective representation begins with\u00a0understanding\u00a0a client\u2019s\u00a0goals and objectives.\u00a0As his clients&#8217; proxy inside the courtroom, he\u2019s a zealous advocate for his clients&#8217; interests. He understands the level of trust placed in him and works hard to identify and implement winning strategies that will achieve the best possible results.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A Navy veteran, John served aboard the USS John C. Stennis from 2003 to 2008.
